For a brief moment.

The reality of the brief moment that we all share together come crashing down in front of me yesterday.

For a brief moment I forgot all of my own ideas, troubles, pre –occupations, my own little world did not exist. For a brief moment the life and death struggle of another human being that I had never known or met before became the absolute focus of my life and the focus of the lives of others who were also involved.

There was no room for petty squabbling, there was no room for battling egos over who’s religion is the right religion, because there was no time to think, the constant voice of discrimination that goes on in our minds faded to nothing; all that was left was the purity of love and caring for another human and their immediate struggle to survive.

Like training the body, we need to actively start re training the mind. We were all born with purity, a clean slate. As we became more aware we developed ideas, memories and habits that have laid the blue print to who we think we are. We have clouded over that pure state of mind that we are born with with attitudes and pre occupations that keep us all separate, we have forgotten and now ignore the one state that keeps us all connected; love that beams from pure consciousness and not the destructive love that we use as a weapon; egoic love that can quickly be replaced with hate.

Yesterday I remembered and felt that pure state. A love that emanates from somewhere separate from the mind controlled ego. You cannot begin to describe how if feels, you have to feel it to know it. The mind cannot explain it as the ego does not want it to exist. But when you experience it, it leaves a feeling and knowing that questions who you are.

Live now. Lead with love and forgiveness. When all else has been stripped away that is all we have. Love, honor and cherish all whom you care about . In a second, in minute, in an hour your reality may change forever. Make time for the “work-in”….have the courage to look at how you operate.

    Good one, Andy.

    Rich depth.
    Poignant moments.
    Silence in the noise.
    Space in the clutter.
    Beginnings and ends.
    Ascending beauty.

I think you have created a very valuable website hopefully inspiring the very best in martial arts..
You only need a brief moment to have a great day, 30 seconds in 24 hours! may be all you need.

Thanks Andrew. A large part of the reason that I created this space is to share with people all the great by-products of studying the ancient traditions of martial arts and meditation. It is how you run the moment by moment affairs of your life that is true mastery.

    Great post.

It’s amazing how a single moment can sometimes remind us of everything that really matters in life. Somehow, within that moment, everything is simple and clear.

I’m not sure if it’s productive to stay in such a mode for too long, but I think there are rewards in reflecting on it regularly.

    Beautifully put.
Thank heavens for these all to fleeting moments that grace our lives.
Once known the reassurance is such that it seems all can be born with courage to face each moment afresh in the challenge to just be.
    Thank you for reminding us.
